BIO
Han Mai Hoang is currently the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of THE BIM FACTORY, an industry-leading BIM engineering consultancy located in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
At the age of 9, Han left Vietnam and migrated with his sister to Los Angeles, California. He grew up mainly around the LA area, attended Woodbury University in Burbank in 1995 with a focus on architecture design, and graduated with a professional degree in architecture in 2000.
In 2003, he moved to Massachusetts and graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2005 with a Master’s Degree in Architectural Studies. During his time at MIT, Han's primary focus was, and still is, on advanced automated construction technology. Han received the Research Scholarship Award from the Design and Computation Group.
Before attending MIT, Han was a design associate for an architectural and urban planning design firm in Los Angeles. He worked on various large-scale commercial and entertainment projects in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Arizona.
In 2005, Han joined as an assistant project manager at Bovis Lend Lease, working on multiple large-scale hospitality and residential projects in New York. Han also served as a part-time adjunct professor at the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) from 2005 to 2006.
Han’s primary professional and life-long goal has always been to collectively fuse architectural design, construction, and management practices, which have long been divided into a unified and cohesive automated process.
Han relocated back to Vietnam late in 2008 and served as a private project developer on various developments. During his time in Vietnam, Han saw the need for better quality design and construction methods; therefore, in 2014, he founded THE BIM FACTORY to create the region's most forward-thinking, highly skilled BIM engineering consultancy company.
In 2018, Han also co-founded THE FAB FACTORY and, in 2022, founded AROBOTIX to provide integrated building solutions using novel technologies to tackle the demand for low-cost housing and developments in Vietnam. Since 2017, Han has been a vital member of the Ministry of Construction’s BIM Steering Committee for Vietnam’s BIM Roadmap.
With over 20+ years of industry experience, Han’s mission is to develop novel technological processes to design, engineer, manufacture, and construct by maximizing developments to create cost-effective living conditions for the entire human race. It is why he has founded his companies and focuses on specific products and services to understand, learn, and eventually make his lifelong vision a reality.
